Hello there! I would like to tell you what my husband and I started to do. About 2 years ago to stop eating sugar and start eating healthier. Let me tell you, that was the hardest and one of the best decisions we made. Our kids didn’t like it, because there was no candy in the house anymore. LOL! That meant no more soda, caffeine. My husband just did his coffee in the morning, and I did my drink mixes from my water that had caffeine in them. The hardest part was when we went camping, we would usually buy a lot of goodies and sodas for the weekend. Again, our kids did not like that!! They had jobs so we told them if they want anything special, they will have to buy it for themselves. Just by doing that I lost 30 pounds, and my husband lost 40.
After 6 months, I was at a standstill and could not lose any more weight. So included a workout routine. It was nothing special, but it included weight training and cardio. I searched up online different workouts to do and put a list together of what I wanted to do. Trying to start something new and stick with it is really hard. I would start and then stop. I would push myself to the point I was sore, then wouldn’t want to do it again. What I have learned is that you have to start out slow, work your way up.
Side note, I have to tell you something about working out. It was 3 years ago that I decided to run a 5k at a 4th of July celebration with family. I’m like, I can do that I use to run cross country in high school and use to love to run. But I had not ran in years, since High School!!! I did not train for it, just decided to go for it. That was a BIG mistake! I didn’t want to be the last person, so I pushed myself too hard. At the end, my son had to help me to my car because I could barely walk. I got home and got ready for the rest of the day (the run was early in the morning). It was so painful; I ended up pulling my abductor mussels. I was working from home at the time, thank goodness! I had to crawl to my office! So, my word of advice is to train for things like that. I haven’t run since, but I plan to this year. Training right now!!
Just this last holiday season, we started to eat the goodies everyone brought to us, just a little bit every once in a while. That was a big mistake!! We both had gain some weight back, it was so disappointing. But we did it to ourselves. We stopped all the sweets again. If something is working for you, don’t change it and stick to it.
